Bison on the Vineyard is a signature series of events on Martha’s Vineyard that is renowned beyond the Howard University family and respected as an opportunity to raise scholarship funds while on-island in August. Bison on the Vineyard is celebrating 8 years and has raised over $25,000 for scholarship.
We are seeking volunteers during the week of August 5th – August 10th, 2014 to support the execution of various tasks, leading up to and during the events. Volunteering puts you front and center and allows you a great deal of visibility and the opportunity to meet a vast array of alumni from various backgrounds and professions.
Opportunities will be available in the following areas: Registration (daily), Beach Party, President’s Welcome Reception and Art Exhibit, Sports Day, Tennis Tournament, Golf Challenge, Happy Hour, African-American Heritage Trail tour, Chicken & Waffles Brunch, Blue & White Gala, Talk with the Trustees, Dinner with the Deans, Worship Service, and Blue & White Brunch.
Ideal candidates should be quick learners with a professional demeanor, as well as have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Times/shifts will be staggered, so you won’t be required to work an entire event and will be able to also enjoy yourself.
Prospective candidates will be contacted by the BOV Volunteer co-chair if opportunities are available. We cannot guarantee that you will be assigned to your primary volunteer request, so it is important that you submit your request as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that some events may be tentative and all participants will be notified in advance of any changes.
